Overall, great mount once it's set correctly. Used it in conjunction with the RAM Quick-Grip XL Phone Holder on my PEV on the weekends to hold my Note 9 in a Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro case. They don't sell the long stem mount with the Quick-Grip XL phone holder so had to buy it separately. Just like my poor body, it's city road-tested on the potholes in my urban city in NJ at 20mph. To date, it's the best phone mount I've ever used but it's not by no means perfect. I've only had 2 issues with this mount since using it and another to my dismay, the Quick-Grip XL phone holder. First, the mount got dislodged when I accidentally rode over a pothole but was later addressed by tightening the nuts even more. Since then it never moved. ever. I purchased this mount to accompany the X-Grip Cell Phone Holder, which I needed to mount in both my car & on my bike. I bought this one specifically as it comes with both the handlebar mount & the diamond mount plate. Installation of both was simple & painless.Handlebar mount - Comes with 2 U-bolts with different lengths to suit many thicknesses of bars you might need to mount to. Also included are locking nuts & rubber caps to cover the exposed ends of the U-bolt. The width is very small which is very important. I commute to work on my bike so I need to be able to hold as many things as possible (either on the bike itself on on my back). RAM simply stated, makes some incredible stuff out of marine grade materials, so putting together a set-up for my GPS on my road bike, I've absolutely no doubt it'll be in service for years to come. Materials, fit and finish are all great. No hiding from eyes on this stuff, it's a proud solution. Then too, due to the rubberized coating on the 1" balls, theres no vibration screwing with the electrical devise. I got this holder as a mount for a digital video recorder (DVR) and am very happy with it. It is well made (cast aluminum, no plastic), easy to adjust and very solid. Once the handlebar clamp and wing bolt are tightened, nothing moves - the whole arm stays fixed, no matter what.I attached a 1/8" flat aluminum plate to the top ball joint and applied industrial-grade, self-adhesive hook and loop tape on top which holds my DVR safely and allows me to remove it quickly and easily.The one star review by another reviewer who experienced breakage of the lower ball joint is, in my view, the result of either a material defect (issue with the cast) or, more likely, overtightening of the handlebar U-clamp leading to a crack in the cast. I was seriously impressed by the quality of construction on this RAM handlebar mount. Just about everything is metal. With the arm in place, it stays still when clamped down, even after many days of hard riding on rough surfaces. This thing is a steal for the $30-some I paid for it. Plus, its easy to switch cradles, which are also constructed very well and are inexpensive. My only complaint is that the hardware is inch instead of metric. I run an import bike, so its one more tool I have to carry.Overall, the RAM mount and cradle setup lets me run an automotive GPS, easily saving me $200 over a motorcycle specific GPS like the TomTom Rider or Garmin Zumo. As far as waterproofing, a clear plastic bag and a rubber band do the trick, and I can still see and work the GPS through the plastic!

I'm buying this mount to hold my new cell phone to the handlebars of my motorcycle. The mount looks as if it could survive a direct nuclear strike. It is made from sturdy aluminum and I'd say it is of moderate weight. The locking mechanism is a simple and elegant design. The range of motion is slightly only limited by the notches in the ball clamp. If you're looking to adjust the mount at awkward and extreme angles, look at another mount from RAM. However, the range did accommodate the position that I wanted.If you are planning to mount this on a surface you don't want scratched, I suggest using some electrical tape. I did manage to scratch my handlebars a bit while I was adjusting the mount. I wouldn't consider this a flaw of the mount, but a natural hazard of this type of device.The Ram
