I love it. I'm doing the job on my assembled engine that’s on a stand. I have noticed with the angled feet that others are talking about the retainer moves towards the tool when you're reassembling the new springs and you're trying to get the locks into the keepers. I'm able too slide the springs forward with a panel trim tool to get the retainer on center. Get creative and it'll work perfectly

I bought this tool based on online reviews and videos. It worked great. I was replacing valve seals on a small block Chevy and didn't want to remove the heads to do so.Using this tool and 6-8 feet of 3/8 nylon rope, I was able to change out the valve seals with great success. The best feature is the self-locking aspect, making this a one person operation compared to other simple lever tools.Several other reviews here mention the need to flatten the U-shaped pieces that presses against the valve spring. I also had to do this to get better contact and avoid compressing the spring at a slight angle.I also found you have to adjust the tool as to how far down on the rocker arm stud you thread it. I am working on AFR heads for a Chevy Small block, old style GEN 1 block 1970 vintage. The AFR heads I have use a stiff dual valve spring set up. I have 2 valve spring compressors in my garage already. The small one that screws down while grabbing the valve spring coils has worked on every LS engine I work on. I also have the old style large valve spring compressor that reaches around and holds the valve closed while compression the spring. These Stiff AFR springs just laughed at my old compressor tools. They would not even start to compress so I could remove the keepers. This new Tool from Proform screws onto the stud and very easily allows removal of the valve spring. Almost no effort at all even on these strong springs. A little awkward to screw the device onto the stud but that only …

For a stock 350 you have to bend the arms till they are straight. Otherwise you put side pressure on the spring which makes getting the keepers in difficult. Theyre all angled up when it's new in box but you should bend them down to be straight. Other than that it worked great.

I'm glad I got this tool cuz it just compressed those 140 lbs springs NP:D:D:DI've got the pry bar, the over head clamp thing, and they are useless with 140 lbs valve springs. The pry bar would work but it mars the seats and pushes down at an angle which is not ideal and if you are not centered, you could bend a valve.This tool takes all the guess work out of it and it does it proper by sending the valve straight down linearly vs. a swing motion you get with a fulcrum. Given the precision with my AFR 165cc 1402 heads and the price, I must do precision as well.I have a new cam and engine and it's all EFI so I really need it in the truck to test it. I also need it in the truck to break the cam in which requires me swapping springs. I'd rather not replace the head gasket after my 30 minute

Wow. Don't do valves seals and springs on your car without it! Took a little playing with to get my method down, but what a great tool.A few tips:1. The center shaft has two ends threaded differently for the two supported rocker stud sizes2. The tool disassembles easily for doing the valves near the firewall. One valve I had to install the center shaft and then the tool around it.3. It works best if you use the lock nut above the foot to lock the foot to the tool (keeps it from wandering)4. At the bottom of its travel the tool locks and holds the spring compressed. Use the threaded foot to get it just right.5. Go slow at first and within a few valves you'll have it down and move right along.6. If you are doing valves that have never been done, use a stuck bolt breaker fluid (like PB …

This tool just rocked my world. I was bending rental tools and my motorcycle screw down type. Used this to remove valve springs on an of Iron GM Mercruiser boat engine. This tool make it so easy. Only reason this didn't get a 5 start is because there were no instructions so I had to figure out that you can switch the screw ends for the different size studs. Also the depressing arm can be adjusted and this will lock down if adjusted correctly. From struggling for hours to complete disassembly in a few min. Highly recommended tool. Good quality and no problems at all
