MLB Vintage World Series Films - Los Angeles Dodgers 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981 & 1988

Reseña del editor All the glory and classic moments of the Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Championships from 1959 to 1988 are digitally preserved in this one-of-a-kind two-disc DVD collection. This DVD features the official vintage World Series films of the Los Angeles Dodgers World Championships from 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, and 1988. The passion and excitement of Los Angeles Dodgers baseball was on full display in the first three Fall Classic games in 1959. Each record-setting crowd at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum swelled beyond 90,000. A tradition of October Baseball in Los Angeles was born. In 1963, Sandy Koufax set the World Series strikeout record of fifteen in Game 1. Again in 1965, pitching was supreme, but this time the Dodgers' speed charged the offense as well. The 1981 and 1988 World Series championships were fueled by the optimism of manager Tommy Lasorda. 1959 - LOS ANGELES DODGERS vs CHICAGO WHITE SOX 1963 - LOS ANGELES DODGERS vs NEW YORK YANKEES 1965 - LOS ANGELES DODGERS vs MINNESOTA TWINS 1981 - LOS ANGELES DODGERS vs NEW YORK YANKEES 1988 - LOS ANGELES DODGERS vs OAKLAND ATHLETICS Tienda Covering two DVDs and over three hours, Vintage World Series Films: Los Angeles Dodgers covers five championship years of the Dodgers following their move from Brooklyn to the West Coast. Beginning with 1959 (a 34-minute film narrated by future legend Vin Scully), it's a time capsule of Dodger history, from the dominance of pitchers Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale to the speed of Maury Wills to their 1981 breakthrough against the New York Yankees. Then in 1988, the Dodgers upended the powerful Oakland A's (led by Bash Brothers Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire) after a storybook home run by gimpy Kirk Gibson off A's closer Dennis Eckersley. Also key was the pitching of Orel Hershiser, who won two WS games after setting a major-league record with 59 consecutive scoreless innings during the regular season. It would have been nice if the set had included the Brooklyn Dodgers' 1955 championship, and the constant MLB logo in the corner of the screen seems like an unnecessary intrusion. --David Horiuchi
