I love this pen for its size and appearance. If it was unscratched, I would LOVE it. Two main areas of damage: the very heavy top clearly has machine scratches - parallel lines going completely from left to right across the top - 3-5 or more, about 3/4" apart. The other area is a small location on the front of the door and the worst is located right next to the latch on the wood FRAME surrounding the door - a DEEP, LONG scratch. Contacted company and sent pics via email (bec. couldn't get to speak to anyone via phone) and blanket response was to "contact Amazon" since that's where "you purchased it from". They weren't interested at all. Several phone calls to Amazon and I got "resolution" - as best they could because Merry Pet no longer has stock of these. I wanted to exchange it for a …

This is a beautiful crate but is not sturdy or durable at all. Our 85 lb Doberman/ Rottie broke the locking latch off by barely pushing on the door. This crate really should have two locks like most crates this size have. Or the latch should be much stronger and place more in the middle rather than towards the top of the door. Also this is really a large folding gate that can be formed into a box where you place a plastic crate tray on the floor, and cover the top with the wood top to secure into a crate. It is not a collapsable or folding crate by any means. I was under the impression it was a metal folding crate with a wood overlay. The size large was good, however because of how easily it broke the very first time we used it, before I ever even left the house, I would not recommend …

It really is like a 1975 Coupe DeVille... It's big, fancy and, when you're not using it, it makes good storage space. LOL!No bones about it, our new Sheppard puppy, Gilda Radner, loves her crate and so do we. It was simple to put together and it's very sturdy. It looks so much nicer than just a plain wire cage. Gilda has gotten tons of compliments on it. Everyone who comes over says something, usually starts with "Wow!...."It's also cool that it can be used as a partition. I am very pleased with this purchased. It's worth the extra few bucks not only for the looks but, craftsmanship as well. This crate is well designed. We bought this for our hyper, fifty-pound hound and keep it in our living room. It serves as a crate and an end table. Everyone that stops by our house comments on how nice it looks. We love that it is versatile and looks more like a piece of furniture.As stated in many other reviews, it did arrive with some scratches. We were fine with touching those up ourselves since it matched the woodwork in our house and we had stain on hand, so we weren't too heartbroken about that issue. It was easy to put together with two people (it's heavy), sturdy, great quality, and holds up well to our large, hyper pup.When using this as a gate, it serves it's purpose well. I was tired of looking at the standard crate in my living room and bought this as a gift to my dog and myself. It felt like our living room got an easy makeover and our dog loves it.Few things to note though (and why it’s 4 stars instead of 5):1) This is NOT for dogs who are destructive or who hate their crate. It’s not really a strong structure. Functionally solid, yes. But any mildly Houdini dog could easily break out and destroy this thing. The roof just sits on top, the bars could bend if a dog willed it, and the latch could be a little sturdier. But my dog is a crate/den seeking dog. After a LOT of research (both in brick 'n mortar stores and online), my wife and I decided to purchase the large 'Merry Pet 2-in-1 Configurable Gate 'n Crate' from Amazon - and we couldn't be happier! Frankly, we've bought a LOT of items online (from Amazon and elsewhere) and this has to be one of our all-around best buys ever! It arrived FAST and in perfect condition; i.e., the packaging alone was quite impressive and, like the crate itself, designed with care and attention to detail. This kennel works perfectly for my purposes!! I have three dogs in my home that can become aggressive in certain situations, so I need ways to quickly corral them without putting them in the same kennels that I use when they are left home alone (because that is a whole other situation with it's own set of routines that is not quick or easy:)). I use this crate for my 67lb rescue, and it is the perfect size for him. He absolutely loves it, and even hangs out in it when I have not put him in it (I leave the door open at all times, except when I have it closed to contain the dog). Love the flexibility and furniture like look of this crate!It's so easy to put together it's ridiculous. Just unfold it and slip the front door hinges on, and it's assembled. Then you just place the top and bottom (which is just a tray) on and you've got yourself a beautiful crate that looks like a piece of furniture. When my boxer was a puppy, we would take the top off and use it as a play pen, and she seemed happier in there because I could put it in the room where I was working.When our boxer was 8 weeks old (and 8lbs), we put a tiny pillow in the back and puppy pads in the front.
